Hi! My name is Shirley Wilson. My husband and I are in our early fifties. We have raised two children and were hoping to retire in a few years. However, it does not take much for life to take a quick turn. About five years ago my husband was laid off from his job. A few months later, my place of business had budget cuts and my hours were cut. We found ourselves dipping into our retirement funds on a monthly basis, our savings accounts didn’t last long, and before we knew it our credit card balances were through the roof. Every day we clung to the hope that my husband would find work and my hours would increase, but nothing changed. We held out as long as possible, but finally decided it was time to file bankruptcy. I’m going to share our bankruptcy story with you.
